Backseat Rally beginner guide
"Your friend sees what's coming. You don't!" In Backseat Rally you drive rally stages on your co-driver's calls alone. This guide covers how to start, which car to use, how to earn Credits, and what the Oct 23 update brings.
How it works
- Two roles. The driver controls the car; the co-driver sees the route and calls turns and hazards. Solo players get an AI co-driver using a friend's avatar (official description).
- Content. 7 cars, 5 stages, rain, mud and snow, through forests, snowy passes and cherry-blossom roads (official description).
- Goals. "Chase medals or race other players head-to-head" (official description). Medals are earned against target times, such as gold on the first stage.
Your first stage
New accounts start at 0 CR in the Orso 4. The first stage is Pine Forest in the Northern Woodland area: 1.5 km, 19 corners, gold target 1:12.0 (reported by AllThingsHow).
- Stop inside the start box before the countdown. Overshoot it and you get "MISSED THE START BOX".
- Stay on the road: going into grass or bushes shows a red DANGER warning and costs time.
- Finish first, then go for medal times. Every finish earns CR and XP.
Co-driver tips
- Agree on a few short calls before the stage: "left", "sharp right", "brake", "hazard". Use the same words every time.
- Call corners early. The driver needs the call before the corner is visible, not when it arrives.
- In rain, mud and snow, brake earlier and steer smoother; call surface changes as soon as you see them.
- Swap roles between runs if your friend reads the road better.

How to earn CR (Credits)
- Drive. Finishing stages and races pays CR and XP. Start or join a race with the RACE button (
Y); hosts can set collisions, number of racers, class tiers and an entry fee. - Codes. Backseat Rally codes: RELEASE gives 250 CR.
- Contracts. The game has weekly contracts; you can swap one for 9 Robux (official product text).
- Robux. Credits S/M/L/XL: 750 / 2,200 / 5,500 / 13,000 CR for 49 / 129 / 299 / 649 Robux. The one-time Starter Pack (99 Robux) includes 2,500 CR, a Works Crate and Turbofan rims (reported).
Spend CR on livery crates and cars in the Shop, and paint, wheels and parts in My Garage. Crates never give an item you already own; duplicates on multi-crate buys pay back credits (official product text).
Oct 23: update + weekend tournament
From the official event listing (Oct 23 20:00 UTC to Oct 26 07:00 UTC): "A tournament every hour, all weekend. Place first for EXCLUSIVE Tournament gloves." "Fastest in your class wins exclusive gloves. S class gets the best pair." Plus a new map, a new Group B car and new engine swaps, parts and customization.
Before Friday: learn the stages in a car you trust, and pick the class you can win in rather than the fastest car you own.

FAQ
Do you need a friend to play Backseat Rally?
No. In solo, "a friend's avatar rides along as your AI co-driver" and calls the corners (official description). With a friend, one drives and the other calls the road.
How many cars are in Backseat Rally?
The description says 7 cars. We count 8 names in the official store data: the starter Orso 4, six level-unlock cars (Freccia HF, Rascal S, Saetta HF, Kaze RS, Raijin GS, Kumo R1) and the Orkan 9S game pass. A new Group B car is due on October 23.
How do you get CR in Backseat Rally?
Finish rally stages and enter races (RACE button, Y). Stages also give XP, which unlocks higher-level cars. You can also redeem the code RELEASE for 250 CR or buy Credits with Robux.
How do you unlock cars in Backseat Rally?
Cars unlock by level as you earn XP. Each one can also be unlocked early with Robux ("Unlock the Kaze RS now, before its level").
